Who are the paid staff?

At what times of the week are the staff generally in the office?

Have the pastors taken sabbaticals?
Yes. Keith and Bonnie were in Cambridge, England, January-March 2007. Steve took a three month sabbatical in the fall of 2003 in Cambridge, England.

Who cleans and maintains the church?
Tim Gordon is the staff custodian. Jim Bieren is currently the deacon who oversees the upkeep of church facilities.

General

How should issues be brought to the attention of the Elders or Deacons?
Contact the board chairperson, the elder or deacon responsible for the particular area, or a pastor

How does urgent news get emailed?
Tim Wallace currently emails church news. Send him a note at twallace@computer.org if you'd like to be added to the list.

When does the board of elders meet?
Their schedule varies. Check the church calendar for their current schedule.

When does the board of deacons meet?
The second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm.

Where is the church calendar?
In the hall outside the church offices, also online.

Can I add something to the church calendar I think should be on there?
No; all events need to be scheduled through our Facilities Use Coordinator, Deb Pichulo, to avoid conflicts and make sure everyone has access to what they need. She will then update the calendar.

What is the church "manual"?
A document that spells out who we are as a local expression of the body of Christ: Our history, what we believe, and how we have chosen to organize ourselves. This document was rewritten and accepted by congregational vote in 2005. Download the church manual.

How can I get a copy of the church directory?
See Barbara Clark or Deb Pichulo.

Who maintains the Church web site?
Aaron Weitekamp (webmaster), Deb Pichulo, Tim Brown and Ray Pichulo.

Where can the service be listened to outside the sanctuary?
The reception room, the nurseries, and the narthex all have speakers in the ceiling and a volume control on the wall.

Where is the reception room?
From the main entrance it is upstairs on the left.

What is the reception room used for?
It is used for nursing moms during the worship time. During weddings it is used as a waiting room for the bride. It is sometimes used as a small meeting room.

What is the ministry placement committee?
A relatively new committee borne out of the revised manual whose mission is to match up people and their gifts with needs within the church. See the Ministries section of this site.

How does an announcement or prayer request get in the bulletin?
Contact Barbara Clark or Deb Pichulo.

When does the choir meet and how can I join?
Every Wednesday 7:30-9:00pm in the sanctuary. Off mid-June-September. Everyone is welcome to join, just show up!

Who provides the flowers in the front of the sanctuary?
There is a flower committee who has provided a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board if you would like to contribute flowers dedicated in someone's honor. Contact Dee Daly or Lois Dowd.

Where can I find out who's on the church's committees?
Check the bulletin board in the Swanson Fellowship Hall for a list, or see the Ministries section of this site.

Finances

Who oversees the church budget?
The finance committee, overseen by the board of deacons.

How are undesignated funds used?
Any undesignated funds given become part of the general fund, which supports all of the ongoing operations of the church except for missions.

How are Church-supported missionaries supported?
Contributions to missions must be so designated. The missions committee, chaired by Cheryl Nelson, has a separate budget.

Kids/Christian Education

Who coordinates the nursery?
Kay Monroe.

At what age do children begin participating in Sunday School?
Age four, but may depend on readiness.

At what age do children begin participating in Junior Church?
Age five.

Who teaches Junior Church?
The Junior Church teaching team, on a rotating basis, directed by Pastor Weibley.

Who oversees Children's Sunday School?
Steve Weibley. Deb Pichulo is the Sunday School superintendent.
